Expert treatment to improve mobility, reduce discomfort and support healthy healing after surgery or injury

When your body heals after surgery or injury, scar tissue forms as part of the natural repair process. But scar tissue isn't the same as the tissue it replaces. It's more fibrotic, less mobile, and can form adhesions that stick together the layers beneath your skin.

These adhesions can cause tightness, restrict movement, create numbness or hypersensitivity, and sometimes lead to pain that seems unconnected to the scar itself.

Understanding scar tissue

The visible scar on your skin's surface is only part of the story. Scar tissue extends into deeper layers, affecting fascia, muscle and surrounding structures. This can impact your movement patterns, posture and comfort, sometimes in areas you wouldn't expect.

The RESTORE Scar Therapy Method

At Freeform Health and Fitness, I'm qualified in the RESTORE Scar Therapy Method, an evidence-based approach developed by UK scar specialist Emma Holly and used within the NHS and leading private healthcare providers.

This gentle, non-invasive treatment uses specialist scar massage, fascial release techniques and self-care guidance to:

  • Stimulate positive changes in scar tissue, both on the surface and in deeper layers

  • Reduce common symptoms including pain, sensitivity, numbness and tightness

  • Improve range of movement and flexibility

  • Promote both functional and cosmetic improvements

  • Support your body's ongoing healing process

Treatment is highly effective for scars of all ages. The first 6-12 months after surgery is an ideal time to start (we can often begin once your wound has healed), but it's never too late.

I regularly work with people who have scars from many years ago and still see significant improvements.

Who benefits from scar therapy?

Scar therapy can help with a wide range of surgical and traumatic scars. Even small laparoscopic scars can cause significant internal adhesions and restriction. If you're experiencing discomfort, reduced movement, or that "pulling" sensation around a surgical site, scar therapy may help.

Injury scars

  • Traumatic injury scars

  • Burns

  • Significant wound healing

Post-surgical scars

  • Caesarean section scars and abdominal surgery

  • Mastectomy, lumpectomy and breast reconstruction scars

  • Keyhole (laparoscopic) surgery scars

  • Orthopaedic surgery including hip, knee and shoulder procedures

  • Cosmetic surgery scars

  • Any surgical incision causing restriction or discomfort

Medical scars

  • Cancer treatment and oncology scars

  • Emergency surgery scars

  • Appendectomy and other abdominal procedures

In the last 6 months we have worked together on scar therapy and personal training both of which have been highly effective. With Jenny's support I have managed to lose weight and body fat whilst increasing my muscle mass.

Lana, Haslemere

Jenny got me moving again! Jenny listened to me, learned about my mobility issues and helped me work on them. Jenny's combination of sports massage on my legs, post-operative lymphatic drainage on my knee and advice on specific stretches for muscles that don't get a lot of attention got me back into the gym and enjoying exercise again.

Scar therapy and lymphatic health

Scar tissue and lymphatic congestion often go hand in hand. Wherever you have scar tissue, you're likely to have some lymphatic disruption. This is particularly important after breast surgery, abdominal procedures, or any surgery that has affected lymph nodes or pathways.

For many clients, scar therapy works most effectively alongside Manual Lymphatic Drainage. The combination helps address both the mechanical restrictions from scar tissue and the fluid congestion that often accompanies it. During your assessment, we'll discuss whether this integrated approach would benefit you.

Supporting your recovery after cancer treatment

If you've had surgery as part of cancer treatment, scar therapy can be particularly valuable. Surgical scars from mastectomy, lumpectomy, reconstruction, or lymph node removal can affect your range of movement, comfort and confidence. As a Cancer Exercise and Rehabilitation Specialist, I can also provide gentle, progressive exercise guidance to:

  • Restore shoulder and arm mobility after breast surgery

  • Support safe movement as you heal

  • Reduce your risk of developing lymphoedema

  • Build strength and confidence

This integrated approach recognises that your scar, your lymphatic system and your movement patterns are all connected.

What to expect

Initial assessment (75 minutes) - £90

We'll discuss your surgical or injury history, symptoms, and what you hope to achieve. I'll assess your scar and surrounding tissues, looking at mobility, sensitivity and any restrictions. This first session includes treatment and guidance on self-massage techniques you can use at home.

Subsequent treatments

  • Standard session for 60 minutes - £75

  • Extended session for 75 mins - £90

  • Express session for 45 minutes - £60

Duration

Most people benefit from a course of treatment, typically around 6 sessions depending on the age and extent of scarring. However, even a single session with comprehensive self-care guidance can make a meaningful difference. We'll work together to find an approach that fits your needs and budget.
